Degree Overview

Are you passionate about data science, machine learning and AI? As a Computer Science program student in Cogswell College's Data Science concentration, you will develop a deep understanding of massive parallel data processing, data exploration and visualization, and advanced machine learning and deep learning. You'll understand the mathematical foundations behind all machine learning and deep learning algorithms. Our data science degree program students become ready to apply knowledge in practical use cases, justify architectural decisions, understand the characteristics of different algorithms, frameworks and technologies, and how they impact model performance and scalability.

This opens up many exciting possibilities—driverless cars, medical diagnosis and treatments, financial fraud detection and prevention solutions. Perhaps you could write the next application that completely changes our lives—the potential is limitless.

Course Highlights

Data Structures and Algorithms In this data science course you will  practice concepts of structured programming and discrete mathematical concepts in data structures and analysis of algorithms. You will also learn the landscape of relevant systems, the principles on which they rely, their tradeoffs, and how to evaluate their utility against your requirements.
Machine Learning This data science course will acquaint students with basics of machine learning and pattern recognition and different learning techniques like generative, discriminative and parametric. You'll see how applications of machine learning are brought to data mining, speech-recognition, and robotics as well as apply these concepts through hands-on projects.
High Performance Computing This data science class will give students invaluable insights into the design and analysis of high performance computational concepts like computer architecture, parallelization.
