Professor Shreiner is an expert in computer graphics and GPU computing, particularly rendering using OpenGL, OpenGL ES, and Apple’s Metal.
He is also the co-author of “The OpenGL Programming Guide” ; “The OpenGL Reference Manual” ; “The OpenGL ES 2.0 Programming Guide” (first edition); and “Interactive Computer Graphics: A Top-Down Approach with Shader-Based OpenGL” (sixth edition), and its new version “Interactive Computer Graphics with WebGL” (seventh edition). Professor Shreiner is the series editor for Pearson’s OpenGL professional library, and an adjunct instructor at Cogswell Polytechnic College where he teaches a class on computer graphics.
He has also presented various courses on OpenGL and OpenGL ES at conferences worldwide, including 16 SIGGRAPH conferences (20 if you include SIGGRAPH Asia), and authored the first commercial OpenGL course for Silicon Graphics Computer Systems (SGI – the creators of OpenGL).
Additionally, Professor Shreiner has volunteered for ACM/SIGGRAPH for many years. He is Conference Chair Emeritus of the 41st SIGGRAPH conference held in Vancouver, B.C. August 10-14, 2014, and currently serves as the Treasurer of ACM SIGGRAPH. He is also currently the Director of VR Engineering, Unity Labs, for Unity Technologies.
